Turkey Day...10 days and counting!

Reminder!!! Weigh in is set for December 6th in Rock Hill! We will celebrate all of the lbs we have shed over the past year. If you cannot make it to weigh in, you will not be eligible to win the $$$ (you will also need to send your $ to Charlene ahead of time so the winner can enjoy what they have earned). I will be tallying everyone's pot this week and posting it next week so you will know ahead of time how big the pot is...extra incentive! Also, to clarify, everyone owe's $20 just for participating this round (not an extra $10). Steven made a mistake and Nicke corrected him in the original rules post. It's going to be a tough race especially with Thanksgiving next week, but we can do it!

Election, Candy and More..

The holidays are creeping up!

The holidays are creeping up on me and I think my eating is too! Ugh. All of these birthdays have been bad for my waistline. Oh well...tomorrow is a new day and I have to take it one meal at a time. I don't owe any money and I gained a pound this week. Kerry.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Tampa Bay was crazy!!! Sat night I'm leaving the restaurant and me and a buddy catch a cab back to the hotel. Well I leave my phone in the cab! So I get back to the hotel and realize I have to track this cabby down. I catch a cab back to the restaurant and wait hoping that the cabby comes back, two hours later he shows up but this jerk won't give me my phone back. Here is how our conversation went down.

Me: Hey I left my phone in your cab!
Cabby: I know you did. I charge you! I charge you! I find phone!
Me: Just take me back to the hotel man
Cabby: No I charge you!
Me: Whatever take me back it's 3am. I don't have time for your crap.
Cabby: Get in
Me: Give me my phone.
Cabby: No. I charge you.
Me: Here Jerk. (I throw at twenty at his face)
Cabby: What is this?
Me: Listen homey I aint playing with you give me phone
Cabby: I honest man. I charge you.
Me: Listen a-hole if you don't give me my phone me and u are about to have a real problem.
Cabby: No
Me: I'm not giving you any more money you idiot!
Cabby: I'm keeping your phone!
Me: Alright jerk I'll give you more money when we get to the hotel.
Cabby: Here is the phone.

I get out of the cab at the hotel and head inside. The cabby follows me screaming "give me my money"
I turn around and pointed my finger in his chest and told him to go jump in a lake. He is now in the lobby screaming for money. I said wait right here don't move. I got into the elevator went upstairs and went to bed. It was hilarious.

I had a good week. Lost two pounds. Panthers lost but oh well. Did anyone try the recipe or am I wasting my time??? Drumm-dogg.

Okay so it's my birthday

Hip Hip Hooray Hip Hip Hooray Hip Hip Hooray!! Now that we have that out of the way, I gained a pound this week. Booo Booo!!! I weigh 170 right now. Goal is 160 by weigh in. Tonight is a time to celebrate. Burgers and fries, cake and ice cream all around which means I have to work out for two hours this afternoon. You too Kerry and Charlene Drummond. Last week was pretty good I worked out a few times. Everyone needs to encourage people to keep blogging on time so there is no extra money wasted. Have a great week. Below you will find the low fat desert of the week. They are only 3.5 points. try them!!

For the base you need:

175 g (6 oz) crushed semi-sweet whetmeal biscuits

55 g (2 oz) low fat spread ("I can't believe it's not Butter" would do)

For the topping you need:

3 tsp gelatine

1 cup of low fat cottage cheese

175 g (3/4 cup) low fat soft cheese

55 g (1/4 cup) caster sugar

2/3 cup low fat cream

Grated rind of 1 lemon

a punnet of strawberries (8 oz?) to decorate.

1 tsp of coconut essence (for luck!)

This is what you do:

First, crum the biscuits.

Prepare a baking tin by spraying cannola oil on the base and around. Place the crums on tin, spreading them evenly. Put the tin in the fridge for the time being.

Now, sprinkle gelatine over 3 Tbsp water in a small bowl and set aside for about 3 minutes.

Then place the bowl in a saucepan of hot watter and still till it dissolves. Let it cool for a while.

Blend together the gelatine, cottage cheese, soft cheese, caster sugar, cream, coconut essence and lemon rind till smooth.

After that, pour the mixture into a bowl and stir in the strawberries.

Pour the straberries-cheesecake mixture onto the crumbs in the tin, and chill in the fridge till set.

Once the cheesecake is set, you can cut it into individual squares and serve it.

This low fat cheesecake recipe is pure heaven!

Shedding the LBS???

Well I hope everyone had a great week. I (Kerry) ran 10 miles yesterday for the first time in my life! (In the rain, I might add). I was helping a friend who is training for a marathon. It felt good to get a great workout in, but my knees are paying for it today. I did not lose any lbs this week, but I did run three times. I hope to get back into the habit now that the weather has been beautiful! We can't wait to see everyone in three weeks for Brennan's 1st Birthday! I'll be sending out his invitations this week!

The View

Hi folks! Hope everyone had a great week. I had an okay week eating, but I got back into my workout habits. I entitled this blog the view because I think that show is a complete joke and should be taken off the air. Some of you may say why are we talking about the view on this weight loss blog??? Good question! Well I'm running this blog and can write about whatever the heck I want to write about and right now i feel like sounding off! The way these dogs treated John and Cindy McCain last wek was an embarrassing. Whoopi Goldberg is a loser. Now before all the Barack Obama supporters get defensive please save it. I'm voting for Barack– he's the man so relax. I just think what's right is right and because McCain said he believes in God and prays to Him for guidance and doesn't believe in abortion or gay marriage that's his right just like it's Whoopi's right to be an atheist. Check it out on you tube people. Have a great week. I gained another pound last week but that's okay there is still time left. Eat well, pray often, send Steven cash. I'm out! Drum-dogg.

Panthers... Banned Foods...etc

First of all, I hope everyone enjoyed watching the Panthers get the win yesterday! It was fun. I had the pleasure of having dinner with Buster and Connie on Saturday night in San Diego it was great. As far as the rules are concerned, everyone should post their banned foods by tomorrow. If you decide to partake in the banned foods anyway it will cost you two dollars. We will use our original weights for the final weigh-in come December. Everyone will pay 10 dollars to participate in the competition. Right now I have 10 participants, Kerry and I, Ruby and Jessica, Nikki and Arthur, Sommer and Alma and William and Cooky. Nikki can you post our orginal weights when you get a chance. If anyone has any other questions or concerns please ask. Have a great week.

Congrats to Alma Miller!

Alma won the second round of the weight loss challenge! Good job Alma. Going Forward anyone who doesn't want to participate doesn't have to. Just please post that you are out. Some newbies have expressed interest in joining. Welcome Ruby and Jessica. William also expressed interest let me know if he was serious Cooky...
Rules for the next round:

1. Everyone must report their new banned food by next Monday. If you eat your banned food you must place two dollars in your jar.

2. When you make your post each week you must indicate how much weight was lost or gained that week. That means you must weigh yourself each week before you post. You don't have to give specific numbers but you cannot say "nothing's changed every week". If you lose or gain weight you must indicate how much.

3. Everyone will pay 10 dollars to stay in the competition. Final weigh in will be Dec. 6th in Rock Hill. Cooky I know that's a long way from Atlanta but please try and make it. EVERYONE will step on the scale and weigh-in before a neutral judge not in the competition.

If you can't do these three things please excuse yourself from competition– no one's feelings will be hurt we just want everyone on the same page.

Everyone please remember the reason for the competition is for our family to encourage each other to get in shape. I know weight is a sensitive topic but accountability is the key to weight loss... secrecy is a detriment. Let's be open and honest with each other and have a good time. Good luck people. Drum-Dogg

Back from Cali!

We're back and I ate like crap all week. Alma you were right:( But I lost three pounds so it doesn't matter!:) Cali was fun and Buster was a great host. The weather was sick good and the beaches were great. Dad got a great birthday party and Pop got hammered at the party! JK... We ate breakfast at the LaQuinta every morning- decent waffles I might add. The plane ride home was awful Brennan slept the entire way so that was good but I was stuck beside some old lady who didn't speak english and snored just loud enough to be annoying. Anyway look forward to another family trip in a few years. I think we should rent a house in Cabo! Peace I'm out! Drum-dogg.

Memorial Weekend (Week of May 26th)

Cookouts everywhere! Burgers, Dogs galore... I had a poor workout week but a good eating week. I have to put it all together soon. Had a great time at Granny's Family and Friends Day at church. Wanted to thank everyone who attended the Shindig on Saturday in Charlotte! It was a lot of fun and we appreciate you guys making the trip to celebrate Mrs. Charlene Waddell Drummond. As far as eating good we definitely did that this past weekend...or not! I had a decent week last week. I played a round of golf on Wed. and worked out hard on Thursday. I ate healthy except for skipping breakfast two days and cheating by eating fries one night. They are just too tasty to pass up. Time to get back on the bandwagon I ran a couple of miles tonight and I am playing basketball this week. Have a great one peeps. Drum-dogg

Graham Cracker Dessert

Steven and I have a great little dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth. Buy chocolate graham crackers and fat free cool whip. Break one rectangle in half so you have two squares. Scoop a heaping spoonful of cool whip on one square and then place the other square on top (like an ice cream sandwich). Then freeze overnight. Make a bunch and freeze them. When I was on weight watchers this was a 1 point snack. Hope you enjoy! - Kerry

New Rules

Hi gang! Congrats again to Kerry Drummond for cheating her way to victory in the first round of weigh-ins! Just kidding Kerry... Everyone has voiced their displeasure with having to write weekly logs on their diets so we are going to change the rules for the next weigh-in.

1. Everyone must post a reply once a week (Starts over each Mon) letting the group know how your exercise and eating went that week. (For instance: I worked out three times this week, ran outside twice and used the stairmaster once. My eating was terrible we ate McDonalds four nights this week.) That's what we are looking for this time around it shouldn't be as time consuming. If you do not post by Monday, you will owe $5.

2. Everyone must give up a guilty food pleasure. Please post your banned food by Friday of this week. Mine is French Fries. I looooove fries.. I mean it I love them... but I'm willing to give them up for you guys! Maybe?! If you eat your banned food you MUST send Nicke five dollars. If you decide you do not want to post one week you MUST send Nicke five big one's! If you are not honest God has agreed to make you gain weight. If you cheat and indulge in your guilty food pleasure you will owe $2.

3. Everone post recipes and weight loss ideas for everyone to share. We don't need to keep secrets. The goal is for everyone to be happy with their progress by Christmas.
